Avatrombopag is used to raise low platelet counts in adults with long-term liver disease who are due to have a medical or dental procedure.

It is also used for chronic immune thrombocytopenia when the platelet count remains low after earlier treatments.

Usual dose range: 20mg to 60mg once daily depending on the condition and platelet count; chronic liver disease procedure courses are usually 40mg or 60mg once daily for 5 days, while immune thrombocytopenia often starts at 20 mg once daily and is adjusted.
