Baricitinib is used for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis when other disease-modifying medicines have not worked well enough or are not suitable.

It is also used in some countries for severe alopecia areata, an autoimmune hair-loss condition, and for certain hospitalised patients with COVID-19 who need extra oxygen support.

Usual adult dose range: 1mg to 4mg once daily, depending on the condition being treated, kidney function, age, infection risk, and local approval.
